Announced today, the schedule for the five-day festival, which begins April 6, opens a window on the depth and diversity of artists, musicians and writers working in metro Detroit. The festival will feature the work of 38 Kresge Foundation artist fellows and eminent artists appearing at more than 40 separate events — all free of charge — from art exhibitions to music and dance performances, literary readings and panel discussions.

The festival will be held in more than a dozen locations through the Midtown neighborhood.

Elsewhere, musicians such as the rapper Invincible and experimental jazz-classical composer Joel Peterson will perform, poet Rachel Harkai and novelist Lynn Crawford will be featured in readings and a plethora of panel discussions will address topics such as environmental art, the role of the artist in the 21st Century and publishing new works.
